LAS VEGAS – International Video Distributors (IVD) and several of its brands had a big presence at this year’s AVN Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) in Las Vegas. On the main floor, the company had a pair of huge booths: one for IVD (and the production companies and titles it exclusively distributes) and another for Pleasure Productions and Evolution Distribution. IVD/East Coast News and Adventure Industries set up shop downstairs in the B2B area.
“IVD, itself, had a very big booth and a big showing,” company founder Frank K. told AVN. “We featured all of the companies and titles that we’re exclusively distributing: Pulpo, Girls Gone Wild, IncredibleDigital and Spunk’d the Movie. I think it was a fantastic display…all of the banners and fliers looked great. We had some of the Girls Gone Wild girls stop by, as well as some of the stars from the Pulpo movies. We also had our newest director [and former Howard Stern personality] Crazy Cabby in the booth for interviews.”
Just across the show floor, the Pleasure Productions and Evolution Distribution area created a spectacle when company director Matt Zane broke Criss Angel's suspension record after hanging for six hours at the booth with four shark hooks through the skin of his back. A large, raucous crowd counted down the final seconds.
Zane broke the record to promote his Pleasure Productions DVD series Punk'd Ur Ass, the first of which features a segment in which he undergoes a suspension. The director added his own unique twist to the performance by using 4 hooks instead of 8. Director/performer Tom Byron and Pleasure Productions contract starlet Tera Wray signed autographs in the booth as well as. Static X rocker Wayne Static also spent a lot of time in the booth.
“It’s something that got a lot of attention,” Frank said of Zane’s suspension, “and I think it’s unlike anything that’s happened at AEE before. Tom Byron did a great job as well, and we closed some great deals for him. We also closed deals on new websites for Matt Zane, Tom Byron and Tera Wray, so we look forward to those launches.”
“It was a great show,” added Evolution Distribution sales manager Adam Hasner. “We had great sales, publicity and promotions. Between Matt and the whole suspension performance, and Tera and Tommy being in the booth signing autographs, we had tons and tons of people coming by.”
Founded in 1987 by brothers Frank and Mike, IVD has acquired numerous established lines and produces adult movies through its flagship company Pleasure Productions. Popular starlets Gina Lynn, Chasey Lain and director Jules Jordan all got their start with the company.
“The show was really fun,” said Byron, who was representing his namesake production company, distributed by Evolution Distribution. “I signed a whole lot of autographs, and did some good business. I’m actually starting to recognize some of the fans from shows past.”
Tom Byron Pictures has just released Seasoned Players 3, and the industry veteran is currently shooting a “MILF Superstars” edition of the series for the fourth installment. “I’m really excited about it…it features all new scenes from Ginger Lynn and Amber Lynn.
“For the first year of the production company, it was basically me wearing all of the hats and doing everything. Now that we’re in our second year, I’m really going to start to get things rolling, and get more people in the mix.”
Frank said he was happy to find a shortcut from the main show floor to the B2B area, so he could split time between his four booths.
“The B2B area was nice and cozy,” he said. “The foot traffic was perfect for us. We fostered some great relationships, and were handing out samples of our all-natural male sexual enhancement supplement, HARD, and pleasure enhancing gel for women, Pure Passion. So hopefully all the guys were walking around with hard-ons and all the ladies were having orgasms,” he laughed. “We also saw a new sales star emerging for us named Trisha Uptown at the Adventure Industries booth.
“All in all, we loved the show. I think it was one of my best experiences yet. We had meetings with the right people and made the right deals.”
