When The Dick Van Dyke Show's Rob and Laura Petrie couldn't make up their minds on a middle name for precocious son Richie, they settled for Rosebud - an acronym for their choices. Rosebud is also the name of a line of adult films which IVD's Frank Kay has bought from Devil's Films, including some Sean Michaels titles.
That gives Kay about 4,500 titles in his ever-expanding IVD catalogue. "We got the Rosebud features and the four-, six- and eight-hour titles that say "Devil's Films" but will eventually be repackaged into Rosebud," he said. "I want to make this real clear. Only the Rosebud features are involved, not the Devil's Film features that are currently distributed by Devil's Films. We've distributed the Rosebud line for years through our distribution company, and we acquired it last week."
The deal involves about 224 features, Kay said, including lesbian, anal, Sean Michaels, and 10 gay titles. "The gay line will continue as soon as May or June, and over the summer we'll continue the Rosebud line," he said.
Kay also said that he has acquired all of the Bruce Seven boy/girl library. "We haven't made that totally public, yet," he says. "But we now have Buttslammers, Take It To the Limit and all the other Bruce Seven features. And we're currently in negotiations to have Bionca doing some production for us. Hopefully she can continue the Take It To the Limit and the Buttslammers' lines with her name on it. Those series are awesome.
"We feel these recent deals put us as one of the top content providers in the world," Kay said. "With the Internet, content is a key issue and this puts us in a good position."
