Playboy Invades Indiana University Campus

Princeton Review named Indiana University the number one party school in the nation. Then Shane’s World showed up. Now it’s Playboy’s turn to add to the notoriety of the campus by photographing female students of the university in their "Women of the Big Ten" feature.

A photographer for the magazine will be in Bloomington April 14 and 15 to line up Indiana University students to appear in a "Women of the Big Ten" feature.

"When I started, posing nude was pretty scandalous," said Karen Ring Borgstrom, a publicist who has been with Playboy for 30 years. "Over the last 25 years, Playboy's gotten so mainstream, it's like it's no big deal any more."

Playboy has run pictorials of college women for 26 years, alternating from one conference to another. Its last Big Ten issue was in 1997. About 100 IU women tried out for the issue, and nine appeared in the magazine.

IU spokeswoman Jane Jankowski said the university has no connection to the magazine photo feature.

Photographer David Rams and an assistant will interview prospective models, who must prove they are at least 18 and are enrolled in a Big 10 university, April 14-15 at a Bloomington hotel. Photo shoots will take place later for the magazine's October issue.

To arrange an interview, they can send recent photos - in a two-piece swimsuit and a head-and-shoulders portrait - to Collegegirls@playboy or Playboy magazine, Women of the Big Ten, 680 N. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60611.
