Hustler Celebrates 34th Anniversary in Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Hustler magazine celebrated its 34th anniversary with a party Saturday at The Highlands nightclub in the luxurious Hollywood and Highland mall complex. The evening was sponsored by Hustler Casino, Hustler Video, HustlerTV, SexToy.com, X Poles, The Screaming O and Erotica LA.

The event, which was open to the public, allowed fans to mix and mingle with porn starlets such as Nautica Thorn, Ava Rose, Savannah Stern, Tori Black, sisters Whitney and Britney Stevens and Lexxi Tyler. Male performers who made appearances included the legendary Ron Jeremy, who was sporting a Rise2 shirt, Danny Mountain, Marcus London, Niko, Tee Reel and Mr. Pete.

Larry Flynt made an appearance in addition to celebrities and behind-the-scenes members of the adult industry. Theresa Flynt, vice president of business development for LFP Inc., told AVN that several staff members were on hand for the event.

"It's really great," she said. "We have a lot of staff here tonight to celebrate with us. We have people who've worked for us for a really long time, and it's nice to enjoy an evening like this together with them."

Flynt said the employees' dedication and hard work has enabled the company to thrive and become what it is today.

"Thirty-four years later, we have a casino, we have clothing, we have stores, mobile, internet, broadcast, video and, of course, the magazine, still," she added. "I think it's the diversification of our brand that's kept us alive and has made us really popular worldwide. It's gonna keep growing, too. We're going to keep branding globally, spreading into other countries and territories worldwide."

LFP President Michael Klein agreed and said the company plans to maintain its momentum.

"It's been 34 years, and we keep going strong, expanding with different divisions such as broadcast, internet and the ever-popular Hustler casinos," he said. "We just keep finding new ways to grow the business. With Larry's name and popularity, we're just on an onward track upward."

Despite talk of a dying DVD market, Michael Glaser, national sales manager for Hustler Video Group, said the Hustler brand continues to have strong sales.

"We have the largest video and DVD library in the world," he said. "We have such great brand recognition that it automatically sells itself. We had incredible success with Not The Brady's XXX and have several parodies in store."

Glaser said spoofs of "Bewitched," "The Partridge Family" and "The Munsters" will hit store shelves this year.

"I actually worked in the mainstream business on ‘The Munsters,'" he said with a laugh. "I used to eat my lunch on the set at Universal."

"We have Hustler magazine to thank for the success of our video division. We're celebrating 34 years of the magazine tonight, and I look forward to another 34 years. It's a great company to work for and a very exciting time for Hustler. We have a lot of new things in store."
