Howard Stern Offers Live, Online Broadcast

Howard Stern is offering the first live broadcast of his Sirius Satellite Radio show on Oct. 25 and 26.

The four-hour program, will be broadcast live online for one hour at no charge as part of an effort to promote Sirius’ Internet radio service, the company said.

The service offers more than 75 channels for programming over the Internet, without the need of a special receiver to get Sirius’ satellite radio offerings. The Internet service is available for a monthly subscription of $12.75.

The new Internet service allows Stern fans to listen to the show from anywhere in the world without buying the receiving equipment which is now sold only in North America.

The service comes after its larger rival, XM Satellite Radio Holdings began offering its own Internet service for its programming for a monthly fee of $7.99.

Stern moved to Sirius in January after nearly two decades on terrestrial radio. He recently expanded his show into a video-on-demand service, dubbed Howard TV, which provides uncensored video of his show which often features porn stars, graphic language and nudity.
