HotMovies.com Distributes 2 Million Free-Minute Cards

After launching the promotion at the 2004 Internext Expo, Adult Video-on-Demand (VoD) site HotMovies.com announced they have given away 2 million of their free-minute cards.

The cards let Adult aficionados try HotMovies.com or their custom-created studio theaters free for 30 minutes. The free time turns a lot of the users into full-time customers, according to HotMovies.com director of business development James Seibert.

“That’s the whole business plan. It does well and if it didn’t do well we wouldn’t still be doing it,” he told AVNOnline.com.

The company has given the cards away in a variety of ways, including at expos, though studios and magazines and through direct mail.

“We did a direct mailing card pack to the people and we had a tremendous response to that. Our membership grew by 500 to 600 members a day for the next week after doing that mailing,” Seibert said.

Now, HotMovies.com is striking partnerships with studios to distribute the cards in their DVD packaging and in some cases, putting the offer on the DVD itself. Seibert said Hustler, Video Team, Leisure Time, New Sensations, Jill Kelly, Video-X-Pix, Starr Productions, Sandy Bunz, Cherry Boxxx, Exquisite, and Limelight all included the promotion with their DVDs at the recent Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE).

HotMovies.com also has an affiliate program for distributing the free-minute cards. Cardholders enter a PIN from the back of the card in order to get their free time. The PIN also tells HotMovies.com which affiliate distributed the card.
