Homeland Security Hunting Child Porners, Net Predators: Report

The Department of Homeland Security launched "Operation Predator" yesterday saying that it was gunning for child porn and prostitution rings, online predators, and other "human traffickers," with the department's Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (BICE) heading up this new operation.

As part of the operation, they'll call upon what's called the first comprehensive system of child porn images in the nation, aimed, the bureau said, at helping police worldwide identify and rescue those children and crack down on those making the child porn.

Operation Predator will let law enforcement agents hunt American sexual predators and target illegal aliens serving time for sex offenses, to make sure they're deported once those sentences are finished, the Associated Press reported.

"Harming a child in any manner or form is a despicable, despicable thing," said Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge announcing the new operation.

The BICE had created a single Web portal giving law enforcement and the general public a single Web stop to get U.S. sex offenders' databases, the AP said, as well as who make and distribute the material.
