Healing Art Foundation to Benefit Breast Cancer Survivors

The Healing Art Foundation (HAF) and the Galaxy Theatre have teamed up to present another in their series of "Art For A Cure" benefits to raise "funds, awareness, and prevention" for breast cancer survivors.

The event – dubbed the "Save the Boobies Benefit" – will be held at the Galaxy Theater on June 5 and will feature live performances from Psycho Realm, Strapt, Freedom Smugglers, and DJ Bionic, as well as a lingerie fashion show. Sponsors include Tatdude, Magic Mike, Venus Fire, 3Dot Clothing, Chronic Candy, AMJ Fashions, ConRev, Music Revolution and Funky Revolution. The event starts at 7:30 p.m., and is for over 21 adults only.

Tickets are $20 and are being sold online at www.healingartt.com, at the Healing Art Foundation office in Whittier, and at the Galaxy Theatre, Music Revolution, and TicketMaster outlets. All performers are donating their talents for the Healing Art Foundation's "Art For A Cure" cause.

HAF works closely with the Cancer Survivors Network, but HAF is its own foundation that collects wigs and donates tattoos, cover-ups, permanent makeup, areola re-pigmentation, and much more for breast cancer survivors.

"A lot of breast cancer organizations don't like the idea of mixing tattooing with breast cancer, so we started our own foundation," HAF founder France Garcia told AVNOnline.com. "The foundation is all tattoo artists and piercers, and now artists and musicians, who are donating their performances for fund raisers."

"I wanted a creative way to bring together all types of artists, including the adult industry," Garcia explained. "Being different doesn't mean we care less. We just have to be ourselves and still make a difference no matter what."

A moment of silence will be observed for HAF member Michael "Magic" Esparza, who was tragically shot on April 26, 2004 at his shop, Body Illusions Tattoo, in Whittier. Magic passed away May 1, 2004. A fund in his name, the Magic Lives On Fund, has been set up by HAF.
