Hawaiian Tropic Plans to Open Restaurant Chain

Tanning oil and pageant promoter Hawaiian Tropic is planning to build a chain of theme restaurants, The New York Post is reporting.

The first of the restaurants will open in New York, at Seventh Avenue and 49th Street, in a 16,000-square-foot area that had housed Houlihan’s restaurant. Company officials could not be reached for comment.

The restaurant would feature Miss Hawaiian Tropic beauty pageant winners wearing sarongs and bikini tops who will take customer orders. David Burke, co-owner of Manhattan eatery davidburke & donatella, will run the kitchen, the paper said Tuesday.

Adam Hock, co-owner of Las Vegas’ Pure Nightclub, said the restaurant would be modern version of the Playboy Club.

Among the adult starlets who have modeled for Hawaiian Tropic are Jesse Jane and Kirsten Price.
