The flagship Harmony Erotic Boutique has opened in the heart of downtown London with a cutting-edge design and high-tech fixtures from the St. Petersburg, Fla.-based PS Professional Store.
PS worked in conjunction with Terri Harrison of Spacecraft Design to produce a two-level, retail destination rivaled only by a handful of upscale adult boutiques in the U.S. The concept began with targeting the expanding adult retail market segment that includes women and couples.
“The PS Professional Store did all the fulfillment,” Alan Armstrong, director of sales and marketing for PS, told AVN.com. “We’ve been working with the media industry for over 20 years, so it was easy for us to take their concept and actually turn it into a reality.
“I think the unique thing about this is that everything has been carefully orchestrated.”
PS said the approach was to make a trip to Harmony “as everyday as visiting Victoria’s Secret or Bloomingdales.”
The PS team did the lighting, flooring, fixtures, shelving and more at the property. Armstrong pointed out that Harmony’s color package entails subtle changes that move the customer gradually through the store from cool tones that reflect non-adult merchandise to the adult section that is bathed in fire engine red. In 1999, PS worked with Hustler to help create the first Hustler adult retail store in Monroe, Ohio. Since then PS has participated in all the Hustler Hollywood creations, the only Penthouse Boutique in Connecticut, and several Deja Vu locations.
PS Professional Store revealed it is working on new versions of the store concept in Hamburg, Germany, and Vienna, Austria.
“We started going to the Venus Show {in Berlin} four or five years ago and it turned out to be a huge marketplace for us,” Armstrong said. “We also do interactive adult kiosks for DVD preview, décor elements and other interactive technologies. We have a fairly broad palette.”
Armstrong said the design of the Harmony concept store was started about two years ago.
