Hacker Busted, Had Gates's Credit Details

The Welsh teenager busted in Wales March 25 for hacking e-commerce Web sites apparently obtained Bill Gates' credit card details. Eighteen-year-old Raphael Gray faces charges of Internet fraud, following a joint probe between Welsh police and the FBI, which says losses based on Gray's and another teen's misdeeds may exceed $3 million. Using the screen name Curador, Gray and a teen confederate e-mailed credit details, including those of the Microsoft founder, to NBCi. Gray told Reuters he wanted only to prove how insecure his targets were and had "done the honest thing, but I have been ignored." Free on bail, the pair are said to have hacked nine e-commerce sites worldwide, stealing information on over 26,000 credit accounts, with targets including those in the United States, Canada, Thailand, Japan and Britain. These arrests come as the FBI continues probing high-profile Web site spam-bomb attacks in early February.

MANILA - A hacker hit the Philippines' Department of Foreign Affairs Web site March 27, hitting the site with expletives. Signing himself as string.h, the hacker also needled official policy statements on the Web page. The site was shut down temporarily. This wasn't the first time a Filipino government Web site was hacked - in February; a hacker hit the Presidential palace's Web site and posted sexual remarks, according to Reuters.
