Great Googly Moogly: Microsoft Wants To Take On Google

You'd think being the kings of the software world would be enough for Microsoft - but you'd be wrong. Microsoft says it's going to come up with a better search engine than Google, even if what they come up with doesn't become a vernacular verb.

"We do view Google more and more as a competitor," said MSN Internet Services marketing director Bob Visse to USA Today. "We believe that we can provide consumers with a better product and a better user experience. That's something that we're actively looking at doing."

They and no few others. Yahoo, for example, finished its $235 million buy of Net search company Inktomi in March, USA Today said. But Microsoft told the paper they have been looking to capitalize on several technologies including data retrieval and analysis by way of stepping into new markets. However, they haven't yet developed any active operating search engine plans.
