Google Said To Have Audio, Video Clips Coming to Search Services

Google isn't confirming it just yet, but a report out of New York says the search kings are planning to add multimedia clips to their search services.

The New York Post reported that Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page spoke of such plans while at the Allen & Company-sponsored media executives retreat in Idaho last week.

That, according to CBS Marketwatch, has provoked some speculation that Google won't stop at multimedia clip search – possibly getting involved in the online music business, selling music downloads, in one or another way. Google would no sooner confirm that than they would the addition of multimedia clip to their search services.

But SearchEngineWatch.com editor Danny Sullivan told the Post he thinks the profit potential in music download-selling is just too vast for even highly-profitable Google to ignore.

Google rivals AltaVista and Singingfish.com have already made audio and video search available, Marketwatch said.
