Good Vibrations Film Festival Returns

SAN FRANCISCO - Good Vibrations has announced details for the Third Annual Amateur Erotic Film Festival, scheduled for Oct. 30 at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco and Nov. 7 at the Coolidge Corner Theater in Brookline, Mass.

For the first time, films were solicited from both coasts, with judges picking only the best short-film submissions.

"Your best bet is to expect a broad interpretation of 'erotic,'" said Camilla Lombard, events and promotions coordinator for Good Vibrations. "Last year, the entries included a three-minute kissing scene,  a stand-up comic and straight-up sex. But it certainly is not limited to hard-core, literal sex: funny, serious, gay straight ... it's all good."

Good Vibrations is a San Francisco-based adult novelty company that also strives to present accurate information on sexuality and toys for grown-ups.

Supporting the bi-coastal event this year are Tantus Toys and Digital Playground.

"We're thrilled to be working with these innovative adult industry leaders and we look forward to a night loaded with unique, erotic entertainment," said Good Vibrations Creative Director Steve Duncan.

At the San Francisco event, from 8-11 p.m. Peaches Christ of Midnight Mass fame will host the activities, themed to the Swinging '70s. Joining Peaches will be Dr. Carol Queen, staff sexologist, who will offer her educated opinion on the films.

A pre-party for the Castro event is set for 7 p.m. in the Mezzanine Lounge of the theater, with DJ Wrong? Of the Magnificent 7 and the Lusty Lady Dirty Dancers providing the entertainment.

Advance tickets for the San Francisco portion of the film festival are $10 and available at all Bay Area Good Vibrations stores, or online at GoodVibes.com. Tickets at the door are $12, and passes to the pre-party will be sold for $10 at the door. For group rates, call (415) 974-8985, ext. 201.

In Brookline, hostess Evil Kinevil will welcome attendees to the 1970s Sherman Oaks porn scene at the themed event. The Good Vibrations store, located at 308-A Harvard St., is the site for the pre-party from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Nov. 7. The party will feature drinks, hors d'oeuvres and DJ  Summer's Eve spinning disco and funk.

Movie screenings begin at 9:30 p.m. at the Coolidge Corner Theater. Tickets are $10 at the Brookline Good Vibrations store or online at GoodVibes.com. Tickets at the door are $12. For group rates, call (415) 974-8985, ext. 201.

The film festival is open to anyone 18 and older, but the pre-parties are only open to those 21 and older.
