Goldstein Back for Business

AVN Hall of Famer and industry icon Al Goldstein is looking to get back into the adult industry. The probation restraints from his previous conviction will be lifted this week and he can move freely around the country. Goldstein now hopes to land a career back in adult. “Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago…I’m willing to travel anywhere for a good opportunity,” he said.

Goldstein, who currently resides in Long Island with his much younger wife, was the owner of Milky Way Productions, under which he published SCREW Magazine (launched with only $150 funding) and the long-running cable show Midnight Blue, as well as a highly-publicized First Amendment advocate.

The 69-year-old Goldstein has acted in 22 films and written for dozens of publications, including Playboy, Hustler and Forbes. He currently writes a column for both Hustler and Booble.

Goldstein started in the adult business back in 1968, 35 years ago. “There was really no such thing as porno as we know it now, back then,” he recalled. “To give you a sense of what kind of atmosphere it was, I got a conviction for showing pubic hair, back in 1971.”

During our phone conversation, Goldstein was less acerbic then the salty reputation that seems to precede him, but he certainly still has the gift for gab. “I have a big mouth and I really want to put it to good use,” Goldstein enthused. It sounded as though Goldstein might be less inclined to throw his characteristic middle finger up to just anybody, anymore.

It would be an understatement to say that Goldstein has experienced his fair share of ups and downs in the industry. “I used to have four homes and get all the pussy I could ever dream of, but when things got a little bit rough, a lot of people turned their backs on me…Ron Jeremy, Paul [Fishbein] and Penn Jillette (the vocal half of the popular magic duo, Penn and Teller), however, have always stuck by me.” Despite the temporary hard luck, Goldstein appears to be determined to pull himself through it.

“I’m ready to work 10 hours a day, six days a week, if I have to.”

“I think I can make a really good spokesperson for a company. I’ve spoken in front of Congress, for God’s sake,” remarked Goldstein. “I think that doing public relations or sales within the adult industry would be a great place for me.”

“Anything from a topless club to a streamed site to a production company, I’ve got a good 10 more years left in me and I’m ready to work my ass off!”
