Goalie's Wedelstedt Settles with Government

In a statement released today, Eddie Wedelstedt, owner of Goalie Entertainment, announced he has entered into a global settlement with the U.S. government, which had indicted him earlier this year on 23 counts, including interstate transportation of obscene materials.

"The specific terms will be disclosed when accepted by the Court," Wedelstedt said in the statement. "In the meantime, I want you to know that the government has agreed to dismiss all charges against Goalie and all of its subsidiaries. The government has also agreed that it will not bring any additional charges against Goalie and any present or former employee."

The statement continued, "I want to give each of you my heartfelt thanks for all your efforts and prayers during the last five years. You made, and I know you will continue to make Goalie a great company. Together, we can now look forward to building on all those past accomplishments, making Goalie the best that it can be.

"I also want to express my gratitude to all vendors who have worked with Goalie during trying times. I know the industry has been in my corner througout the ordeal.

"Thank you again for believing in me and the liberties we as a family have sought to protect."

Wedelstedt, owner of Goalie Entertainment Holdings, Inc., in March was indicted along with six other individuals, including his wife and his company, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division.

Of the 23-count indictment, 18 of those counts referred to interstate transportation of obscene material by common carrier; interstate transportation of obscene material for purpose of sale or distribution; engaging in the business of selling or transferring obscene matter; and aiding and abetting those three alleged acts.

The final two counts of the indictment were RICO forfeiture, which asked for the forfeiture of millions in cash, all stock and other interests that Wedelstedt and Goalie have in 53 listed companies, 10 parcels of land and an airplane.
