Scientists have long sought a vaginal gel that women could apply before sex to prevent them from contracting HIV, the virus the causes AIDS. Now researchers are on the fast track to making that become a reality.
The experimental drug isn't ready for human testing yet, but it provided potent protection to female monkeys exposed to large amounts of a virus similar to HIV.
