The atmosphere is a little different on Day 2. Yesterday was “trade only” (an unintentionally ironic term in gay parlance) where the focus was strictly on business and making contacts. Today fans are allowed in, and when there are fans, there are porn stars.
Many of the video companies chose to “travel light” this year leaving their exclusive models at home, but a number of them did bring along some name stars to sign autographs and add sex to the business end.
Chi Chi LaRue brought along his Rascal Video exclusives Johnny Hazzard, Eddie Stone, Jan Fischer, and Tommy Ritter to assist him with his 2 p.m. deejay duties at the GAYVN Lounge. COLT Studio Group, to celebrate its recent distribution deal with Bel Ami, brought two Bel Ami stars, Tommy Hansen and Yves Carradine to sign at its booth.
Global Media’s Dave Copeland explained that though Latino Fan Club star Viper had missed his flight, he was on his way. Meanwhile, LFC’s Raine held the fort. Also at the Global booth were LCF director Brian Brennan, and twinkmeister Kevin Clarke who is promoting his latest movie, Seduction of a Surfer. Clarke is especially excited about his Surfer star discovery, Cameron Slater. “He came three times in fifteen minutes!” Clarke laughed in delight. “And he apologized! Are you kidding?” The video was released last month and the DVD will follow as soon as it’s replicated.
At the Factory Video booth Billy Bowers and Markie were the fan-draws, while Miami Studios’ military boyz Kyle McDermott and Mark Woods could be found at Valley Pro Video’s booth. Valley Pro distributes the BarrackX 69 line shot by Miami with its straight twink military stars. Cock and Awe: Twink Invasion is the newest title. Another line that Valley Pro’s Michael is very proud of is his eastern European Eagle Films line, another military-themed series. “They are selling like crazy,” Michael says with a smile. “Customers like it that the guys speak English.”
New exhibitor StraightCollegeMen.com’s straight college men have been working the floor handing out business cards that say “See Me Naked at the StraightCollegeMen Booth.” And it’s working. The intrigued and curious turn up after each of the guys’ tours of the Lounge. Owner Matt Owens is currently transferring his models’ Internet performances to DVD. The first titles in the line will be released soon, which Owens expects to bring a bigger audience to his studio’s quality videography and exciting models.
Even without stars, other exhibitors are reaping the benefits of what Male Media One’s “Spanky” calls the best AEE in five years. “I did $30,000 worth of business in the first fifteen minutes,” he explained. Then, “It looks like Bush’s economic policies are kicking in.”
On Top Video’s many wrestling lines are being promoted by owner Barry David. Cowboy Wrestling 4 and Backstage Rumble, both starring Cameron Sage, are On Top’s newest releases
Another new exhibitor, 1 Distribution, represents eight video companies, including Tipo Sesso whose condom-use video, Skaterz, is this European company’s newest release. 1 Distribution’s Sam Dixon (yes, porn star/director Sam Dixon) says that 1 is the exclusive importer of LUBExxx, a new silicone and water-based lubricant. Distributors interested in representing this product are welcome to contact Dixon.
