Raven Rockette's quiet, almost diffident demeanor belies her ambition to be a hardcore rock-and-roller. Seven months after her 18th birthday, the girl/girl performer is reveling in her new career and making plans to add music and mainstream acting to her résumé. How did you start with this?
I was contacted on a modeling website by my old agent's girlfriend. We talked a lot, and they had me go on a go-see with Earl Miller. I ended up flying to L.A. shortly after that, and started shooting.
How is making videos different from what you thought?
It's different once you've been behind the scenes. Everyone has different jobs, and you're sitting and waiting. "Put this on. Take it off. Put it back on. Now take it back off." I really didn't know what to expect in the first place.
What did you do before this?
Before porn, I had just graduated high school. I was writing music, going to college for film, and trying to find a job, really.
Do you like working in the adult industry?
I absolutely love it. I have so much fun. I love the people, I love being on set, I love working, all the lovely girls I get to work with. It's a lot of fun. It's a life-changing experience, for the best. I don't think I've ever been happier in my entire life, or felt more at ease.
What’s the biggest misconception outsiders have of the adult industry?
Everyone expects it to be this dirty, nasty, raunchy, filthy place where, being 18, you're at risk. A dangerous place where people might hurt you and have ill will toward you. It's not like that. My family made it apparent to me: "Be careful and don't do anything you don't want to do." That's funny, because you're already told that on set: You don't have to do anything you don't want to do. It's reassuring to know that you're working with good people, and I don't think that we as an industry would put up with anything that is not professional.
How many scenes have you done now?
Not really sure. A handful. At least 10, and a lot of solo stuff.
What's the best scene you've done so far?
I'd pick two. Either the one with me and Mia Malkova for Holly Randall's website, or my shoot for Kink with Aiden Starr. Aiden is an awesome person. She's a sweetheart. With her domming, she knew what she was doing, and they're very adamant about having a safeword and making sure that you're OK and able to continue with the scene. She sexually turned me on, just being dominated in the first place, and especially by somebody as pretty as her. It was one of the most fun times I've ever had on a set.
Who do you want to work with that you haven't worked with yet?
I would love to work with Aiden Ashley, Harlan Fox, and ... I can't think of any other names right now, but those two, yes.
What are your biggest turn-ons?
I used to think it was just boobs, but after touching Sinn Sage's ass I have to say that ass is one of my favorites. Besides a nice facial bone structure.
Describe your dream sexual scenario.
Oh, man. That would probably involve me and Mia Malkova and there would be a lot of kinky, crazy fun things to do. I can’t even formulate it—it would be that intense.
What three personal items would you take if you were stranded on a desert island?
I would have to bring my Hitachi—granted we have power; a really big knife, like a machete, because that seems very smart to have on a deserted island; and then ... hmmm ... a Brita water filter so I wouldn’t have to worry about the water.
What’s the most valuable life lesson you’ve learned?
When you meet somebody, don't judge a book by its cover. Some people, you think, "This person is so great and nice" and it doesn't end up being like that. That's the most valuable one: No one is as they seem.
How would you spend your last day on earth?
I'd probably spend it with the one person that I love the most. We'd probably just sit around watching movies, lying in bed and having sex until the world ended. I'd like to have one day just doing absolutely nothing, with the person I most care about.
How would your best friends describe you?
My friends would probably describe me as happy-go-lucky, obnoxiously sarcastic, random, eccentric, kinda weird, kinda out-there. All in all I'm a chill, down-to-earth person. Really accepting of all kinds of people. I have no grudges, nothing against anyone. I'm just a nice, friendly 18-year-old.
How do you spend your free time?
Usually writing music, playing guitar, singing. Eating. I love to eat; I love food. Every now and then I play video games. I'll play Call of Duty. Or I put on Netflix and watch some TV.
If you weren't doing this, what would you like to be doing?
If I wasn't doing this, I'd probably be a rock star, making music, doing shows, being on tour. Having crazy cult fan bases. That's what I'd like to be doing if I wasn’t doing porn right now.
Do you have a long-range plan?
My long-term plan is to be recognized musically. Hopefully get signed, have a contract, and still do girl-girl porn but be involved in the music scene and do some mainstream acting things as well.
Quick Hits
Food you would be able to eat every day: Any type of potatoes. I love potatoes.
Best concert you’ve been to: The Mötley Crüe show I saw in 2011 at Red Rock in Las Vegas.
Pet peeves: People who are overly obnoxious. People who antagonize me. And people who talk over me when I'm having a conversation with them.
One thing you would like to change about yourself: My self-image. I wish I handled being hit on better.
What gets you in the mood: Usually a lot of grabbing, a lot of biting. Having my neck bitten is enough to make me tear your clothes off and go to town.
Is there anything else we should know about you? I have an EP coning out soon. Keep your eye out, I'm gonna be big one day. Make a huge splash, hopefully.
