Fresh Face: Interview With AVN Trophy Girl Teal Conrad

Freshman adult performer Teal Conrad will take the stage this Saturday, January 19 at the 30th annual AVN Awards Show as a trophy girl. Below is an interview with Conrad that ran in the September 2012 issue of AVN magazine.

Hometown: Lake Oswego, Oregon | Measurements: 34-26-36 | Hair: Brown | Eyes: Blue

Sporty hardbody Teal Conrad has made quite an impression in just a few short months in the business. The 19-year-old all-natural stunner currently is under contract with Babes.com and has taken a thoughtful, responsible approach to her new career. She’s done some mainstream modeling work for fitness and sports-related companies and told AVN that she’s a former wild child who was sent to wilderness therapy as a teen.

Conrad’s done a handful of hardcore scenes and has become a “professional masturbator” as she calls herself after quite a bunch of solo work. We predict big things for this girl and you should expect to see a lot more of her in the coming months.

There’s a lot of buzz around you. I know you’ve done some mainstream work. Tell me how you got into porn.
I was a fitness model before this. I’m from Oregon, where Nike is based, and I’ve been a model for them for about a year and half—print, commercial and live modeling. My mainstream agent sent me to Oakley here in Los Angeles, so I did that. I was always interested in porn and I went to school with a girl whose sister is Kacey Jordan. I contacted Kacey and asked how to get started and she told me to contact Derek at LA Direct Models, so I signed with them. At first I was ready to do everything except for anal, but after listening to a few people, I decided to start a little slower. I left briefly for about a month, then came back in late April and started shooting only solos.

Who have you shot for so far?
Hustler magazine, FTV Girls, multiple Twistys sets, Mofos—all solos for them—then Babes.com. I have a contract with Babes.com for girl/girl and boy/girl. My contract is for three months and for six to eight scenes. The first boy/girl scene I shot was with Danny Mountain. I’ve also shot with Johnny Sins.

How were you growing up? Would your adult career be a total shock to people?
Oh, it’s a shock for sure! Growing up I had this thing where I would get these guys to like me but I wouldn’t suck their dick. In high school I didn’t want to have sex until I was married. I was in a serious relationship for four years and we each lost our virginity to each other. I read the comments I get on Facebook, and it’s a big shock for a lot of people. I was a tomboy and covered up my body, but I think people that knew me behind closed doors know I can get a little wild.

So you’re athletic and you say you’re still a tomboy. How so?
Well I was the only girl on my high school snowboard team and was ranked nationally. I’m really into nutrition and fitness—anything to do with sports, really. I love cars and even hooked up my own stereo system with subwoofers in my Nissan Maxima. What girl hooks up two 12-inch Polk audio subs in her car? This girl!

Back to the surprise of you doing porn. Have people called you surprised to see you naked on the internet?
Definitely. My mom now Google searches me every day. She doesn’t approve; my dad doesn’t really know yet. Some friends know and I’ve lost a few friends over it. Of course all the guys back home want to fuck me now.

Did you watch a lot of porn before?
Well, sort of, yes, but I didn’t follow anyone specific. To be honest, I started following a lot of the girls on Twitter. And of course everyone knew about Kacey Jordan back home. I followed BiBi Jones and Wicked Pictures. I shot with Wicked when I was 18 because I wanted to do a scene before I turned 19 in June.

Are there any companies you want to work for or talent you want to work with?
You know, I’m really just starting out so I don’t know a whole lot of people yet. I wanted to work with Danny Mountain and I have three times. I wanted to work with Chris Johnson and I did. Keiran Lee and I discussed working together. I’ve been lucky in getting to shoot with who I want to shoot with. I’m just getting into girls so I’m taking that one step at a time. I just want everything I do to be classy.

I’m glad you said that because on your Twitter profile you call yourself a “natural and classy adult model” and you do carry yourself well.
Thank you. And I don’t say those things to sound conceited, I just want to be professional and do good work. At Exxxotica I was talking to the Jesus Loves Porn Stars people and I told them I was Christian and God put me here and he has me doing porn for some reason! I went to private Christian school and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being a Christian and doing porn. I’m just a little bit different, I guess.

Has your previous modeling experience helped you at all in adult? At least in terms of being comfortable on camera?
I think it has, but it’s been a challenge to understand that before I was modeling the product; now I am modeling myself. I feel like it’s clicking now. But modeling tennis shoes is not the same as porn!

You’re young, so did you even have any jobs before porn?
This is embarrassing, but no, I’ve never had a real job. I mean, I did modeling and I was a Zumba fitness instructor, but nothing that you’d call a regular job.

Before porn you didn’t have much sexual experience. Has this opened new doors for you sexually?
It definitely has. Before porn I didn’t have sex with many people—not even five. You masturbate more, too, while you’re in porn. My taste has changed a lot. I used to like bad boys, but now I’m more open and not as selective. I think porn has made me happier and nicer.

Where do you see your career going? Do you see this as a long-term thing?
I really do. But I also don’t promise anything. I’m young and I didn’t even think I could do it at first, but I think at the pace I’m at now, I could have a nice career. I don’t even call myself a porn star—I’m not there yet—I’m a porn girl. Porn stars are Jenna Jameson, Jesse Jane, Jessica Drake, Tori Black, Alexis Texas. One day maybe I’ll get there. I’m here because I love it, not because of the money.
