Free Speech Coalition Update

Gloria Leonard reports: "Hey Gene, An update on East Coast activities. The Free Speech Coalition's 'Strike Out Censorship' event at the Copa Room of the Sands Hotel in Atlantic City was a great success, particularly since there were at least three or four other parties happening simultaneously.

"Additionally, the FSC afternoon informal meeting on Tuesday, brought a larger audience than the legal seminar held immediately beforehand, helmed by attorneys Lou Sirkin and David Wasserman, and I'm pleased to say that many new members came on board.

"From Atlantic City, I flew down to Washington, D.C. for an appearance at the National Press Club, which of course, attracted a great deal of press (duh) including AVN's Mark Kernes, a friendly face in the crowd. The topic was 'Sex on the Internet' and one of the opposing views came from political career killer, Donna Rice-Hughes, she of the infamous 'Monkey Business' fiasco.

"That evening, I appeared on "Equal Time," hosted by Oliver North (of all people); my opposition was Patrick Trueman, formerly of the Justice Department under Reagan/Bush and now, head of the American Family Association (read, religious extremists). Even had a mention in the Washington Post! All in all, a highly productive trip with all pieces of luggage showing up on the carousel!"
