Free Speech Coalition Solicits Election Backing

The Free Speech Coalition (FSC), together with the Association of Club Executives, RockTheVote.org, and other groups, is working hard to energize the adult Internet industry and its member base to keep their “erotic interests” in mind on November 2, and to get out and vote.

“If the current administration, with a Justice Department headed by a fundamentalist minister, is re-elected in November, the adult industry will face federal prosecutors under orders to cripple this industry,” warned Kat Sunlove, the FSC’s legislative affairs director. “They will be armed with mandatory five-year penalties for mere paperwork errors under U.S.C. Title 18, Section 2257 — the federal adult material record-keeping and labeling law, newly enlarged to include webmasters,” she said.

"The last time we saw this level of attack against our industry, 30 of our colleagues were arrested for obscenity and lost their businesses, and some even went to prison”, Sunlove noted. “We must prevent this from happening again.”

In order to reach the greatest possible number of people, Sunlove said, the FSC needs the help of the adult Internet industry. It is asking all webmasters to post the following message in a prominent place on all sites, newsletters or other communications, along with the logo and linking code found at http://freespeechcoalition.com/webmasters.htm.

Sunlove concluded, “Together, we can make a difference in this election. With your help, we will!”

Since 1990, the Free Speech Coalition, the trade association of the adult entertainment industry, has provided member services including legislative watchdog for the industry, lobbying at the state and federal level, public education, member education on legal obligations, and, as a last resort, litigation on key issues.
