Former Love Connection Host Connects With Online Dating

Chuck Woolery linked couples who didn't mind their dating styles exposed long before reality TV was "invented," but the former Love Connection host wasn't long for staying out of cyberspace – the operator of dataDate.com has snapped up Woolery to be their celebrity spokesman. Kind of.

The Hollywood Reporter said August 3 that dataDate.com's parent, MarketRange, cut a deal with Love Tactics last week involving a relaunch of dataDate, and Woolery – already the spokesman for Love Tactics – came with the package, giving relationship advice through dataDate.com, to the delight of MarketRange chief executive officer Duane Dahl.

"He's synonymous with dating," Dahl told the Reporter. "Chuck's got the perfect voice for that."

Dahl himself isn't exactly out of his league with online dating: he turned two other dating sites he ran, Kiss.com and Udate.com, into a pair of $4 million a month revenue generators before selling them for $150 million to InterActiveCorp, run by Barry Diller, the Reporter said. He bought dataDate.com in June for just over $1 million, the publication added.

And he isn't worried about making a new stronghold in the estimated $100-million-a-quarter online dating market, he told the Reporter, saying many if not most online daters subscribe to multiple services. "If you're out there dating," he told the Reporter, "you don't go to the same bar over and over again."
