Forget It, Polanski: It's L.A.

The word is official, from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office: If Oscar-nominated director Roman Polanski comes to the U.S. for the Academy Awards, he's going to be clapped in the clink.

"He's a convicted felon and fugitive," said spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons, "and that's not going to go away."

Polanski is a Best Director nominee for the Holocaust drama, The Pianist, which is also nominated for Best Picture. But he's been a fugitive since fleeing the U.S. following an admission 25 years ago that he had sex with a then-13 year old girl.
