Women's erotica website For The Girls celebrates its second anniversary with an erotic fiction competition, and there's a one-orgasm minimum to enter.
"We want to find the ultimate sexy story for women," said Webmistress Karen Jones when she announced the competition June 2. "Too often adult fiction is badly written, or is just a methodical blow-by-blow description of intercourse from a male perspective. We’re aiming higher with this competition. We want to read about good characters and real emotion. We want to see classy erotic fiction that puts female pleasure first."
The only kicker: Each story must include at least one female orgasm.
"The one-orgasm minimum was my idea," Jones told AVNOnline.com "To be honest, I think it should be standard in every erotic story! But I was also thinking about the Tropfest short film competition which is held in Sydney. Every year they have a theme, a prop that has to appear in each film. I thought it would be cute to do something similar. And a female orgasm was the perfect theme, especially since that's what For The Girls is all about."
The contest was born when Jones and her partner decided to act on an idea they developed a long time.
"We know women really like erotic fiction, and we're always on the lookout for more good stories to use," she said. "The contest gives us a chance to showcase some really great fiction, and to encourage people to write for a female audience. Also, there's so many bad excuses for sex stories around, it will be a lot of fun to read some intelligent, juicy stuff."
Jones said she expects "a reasonable number" of entries for the contest. "We're hoping, but you never know," she said. "We've submitted it to various writers sites, so I think we'll get a reasonable number of entries. And it's open to members. I think we have a lot of aspiring sex writers within the members ranks, so we could find a gem there."
The winner will receive $200 and a month's membership at For The Girls, and the winning story will be published on the website. The runner-up will receive $100 and two weeks' membership, and several smaller consolation prizes are at stake as well.
Launched two years ago, For The Girls was designed to be one of cyberspace's largest adult websites catering to heterosexual women. Features include a mix of photographs; films for female tastes; a comprehensive online magazine with articles, columns, sex advice, and reviews, and a broad array of fiction from regular guest writers.
