Flight School Targets Adult Industry High Flyers

A new flight school is likely the first ever to focus on the Adult entertainment industry in its efforts to attract new student pilots. Hollywood Aviators, which opened in July 2004, has identified the Adult industry as a perfect source of new pilots, given the Valley porn capitol’s proximity to Van Nuys Airport, the level of discretionary income available to Adult industry professionals, and the over-the-top excitement that personal flying affords.

“When you see the kind of cars Adult entertainment people drive, when you see the kind of high-energy lifestyle they live and the amount of traveling they do, learning to fly fits right in,” said Hollywood Aviators president Dan Katz. “There is no bigger thrill than tearing down the runway in the plane under your own control, lifting off, and then looking down over the congested 405 Freeway at 120 mph while thinking, ‘I’m having a hell of a lot more fun than they are!’ That’s the real ‘Mile High Club.’”

To encourage new student pilots from the Adult industry, the school is offering a special introductory lesson, including a half-hour in the plane, for only $40.00 if they mention the AVN Web site.

Student pilots actually fly from the very first lesson, sitting at the controls of a 4-seat airplane. “Learning to fly is the ultimate high,” says Katz. “And in reality, it’s not much more difficult than learning to drive a stick shift. If I can do it, I know anyone can!”

Katz, an advertising creative director for 25 years, learned to fly just six years ago at the age of 44. When he sold out from his ad agency last May, his flight instructor, Farid Azad, suggested they go into business together and start a flight school. In July, they opened Hollywood Aviators.

In addition to flight training, Hollywood Aviators offers charter flights, aerial sightseeing tours, aircraft sales and script consulting.

Hollywood Aviators is located at 7535 Valjean Avenue, suite 2, between Saticoy and Sherman Way. On the Web, they’re found at www.hollywoodaviators.com. To contact Hollywood Aviators, call (818) 994-2004, or e-mail them at [email protected].
