Five New Members Elected To Free Speech Coalition Board

19, five new members have been elected and three current members reelected to the board of the Free Speech Coalition.

Returning to continue several years of service are long-time board members Gloria Leonard and Bill Margold, plus one-year "veteran" Mark Kernes, an editor at AVN.

Of the new members, the addition of Al Bloom, one of the organization's founders and now General Manager of M&M Sales, and Scott Tucker, President of Topco Sales, brings to three the number of novelty company representatives on the board. The third is Phil Berman, of FLIP Manufacturing.

The new crew also finds, in addition to current board member and former Executive Director Jeffrey Douglas, two attorneys who have not previously served: Allan Gelbard, the former Seymore Butts editor who put himself through law school, and who recently won Alisha Klass' public indecency case; and David Wasserman, a prominent attorney from northern Florida who's been involved in many First Amendment cases throughout the United States.

Perhaps the least familiar (to AVN readers) name on the new board is that of Carol Queen, an educator, author and sex worker activist from the San Francisco area. Queen's articles have appeared in Spectator magazine. She is also an owner/employee of Good Vibrations, the Bay area's famous sex-positive adult store.

The board will be introduced on January 8 to attendees at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, along with the FSC's new Executive Director. The meeting at which this will take place is scheduled for 3 p.m. that day, and all Free Speech members are requested to attend - as well as anyone else who makes his/her living in the adult industry.
