LOS ANGELES—Filmmaker, the magazine of independent film, has put its stamp of approval on The Big Lebowski: A XXX Parody in a recent article, calling it “a cult film for the internet (porn) era.”
Produced by New Sensations and directed by Lee Roy Myers, The Big Lebowski parody was released in May and received a critically acclaimed AAAAA rating in AVN. The movie stars Tom Byron as The Dude, Kimberly Kane as Maude, Brianna Blair as Bunny Lebowski and James Deen as the Jesus.
Filmmaker’s Lauren Wissot asserts that the Coen brothers’ cult classic was destined to receive the triple-X treatment given its mentions of the porn biz in the film. Let’s not forget that the real Lebowski’s wife was a porn star and that The Dude parties at porn impresario Jackie Treehorn’s swanky digs.
“Not only is southern California the hub of the sex biz, The Dude is SoCal made flesh,” she wrote. “[The porn parody is] a passionate, nearly shot-for-shot recreation that shows that cute porn is not an oxymoron.”
Wissot writes that The Big Lebowski: A XXX Parody is part of a new vanguard of porn that’s smart and sexy—while being reverentially faithful to the source material.
“The Big Lebowski: A XXX Parody fits nicely into this fold, a cinema-buff pornographic tribute in which dildos are tossed like bowling balls during a dream sequence and Walter accuses the wheelchair-bound Lebowski of faking his erectile dysfunction,” Wissot writes. “Like the Coens’ original this is a cult film for the Internet (porn) era. One could easily see The Dude downloading it himself.”
New Sensations' parody also has been featured on TMZ, Cinematical, Movie Line, The Frisky, JoBlo and in Entertainment Weekly.
