Faustian Experience: Porn stud Adam Faust discusses extreme content, proper fisting technique and his two websites.

We’ve entered a new age in terms of the porn business. Now more than ever, porn stars no longer are relying on studios to promote them. From brand-new twinks to established studs who’ve built large fan bases, porn stars have realized the value in, er, "taking matters into their own hands" by launching their own personal sites. These interactive, electronic "business cards" range from basic vanity sites to more in-depth community sites. For up-and-coming (yeah, we get the joke) porn stud Adam Faust, it’s been particularly beneficial to start one of each.

Having made his debut in Steven Scarborough’s Screw 2: Cut to the Chase for Hot House Entertainment, Faust has built up a resume that includes appearances in films from Titan (Ray Dragon’s Boot Camp: ManPlay 24), Mustang Video (John Bruno’s forthcoming Ritual), Racal Video (Chi Chi LaRue’s Blond Leading the Blond), and Eon Films (in which he appears as "Uncle Jizzy" in Rocky Brown’s upcoming triple-X spoof, The Dicks of Hazzard), among others, and he was featured as a model on the popular gay site RandyBlue.com. But, Faust primarily is known for his prowess as a fisting top, a skill that has been on ample display in films like Raging Stallion’s Hole Sweet Hole and Fistpack 4: Nutts for Butts.

Faust is adamant about promoting safety when it comes to his favorite sexual pastime, so much so that he created and launched FistingAcademy.com as a way to give advice and introduce gay men to proper techniques. Additionally, he also launched AdamFaust.com, a more traditional site dedicated to all things Faustian.

I was so impressed by Faust’s ingenuity and industriousness that I decided to sit down with this redheaded stud to get to the bottom of what makes him such a great fisting top.

Ken Knox: OK, so tell me about your website AdamFaust.com. This is something that you started on your own?

Adam Faust: Yes. I’ve had my own website for about two years, but it wasn’t until earlier this year that I really made an effort and spent the time and energy to redesign it totally.

Did you design it yourself?

Yes, I did. I’ve done everything from designing the logo to designing and publishing the website. I’m totally self-taught in all the programs, so it was a challenge, but I enjoyed it. As I learn more, I keep trying to add and improve upon it.

How important do you think it is for a porn star to have a vanity site in today’s world?

Well, if you want to have a "career" in porn, then I think it’s a must. It’s how you promote yourself and create an audience. If you just wait until you’re a big star, well, then you’ve already lost a lot of people. There are so many guys out there that, to stand out, you need to create something. I guess if you’re an exclusive for a studio, then, yeah, you can probably do without one, for a while. But, even then, if you wait too long, then you’ll be left with what everyone else wants to present you as. It’s really the best place where you as a model can tell people about who you are.

What do you hope to accomplish with the site? Any thoughts on adding a live cam or selling your used jockstraps?

Right now, my main goal is to keep myself in the viewers’ minds. I have a background in marketing, so I’m pretty savvy when it comes to the future potential for having an online presence. I don’t expect to ever really compete in the porn realm with my site, but there is so much one can do as a personality, that who knows what the future will bring. As for used jockstraps, you can already buy those on my site, as well as a few other things…

I’m making a mental note of that right now. Oh, um, what is the best part of having your own site?

That it gives me a creative outlet and a place to let people know a bit more about who I am. It’s my site, my voice, my style. If you go through my site, I think you’ll really get a sense of who I am as a person.

You’re fairly new to the business. What has your experience with it been like so far? Is it what you expected?

Well, I’m relatively new, but I’ve done a lot this past summer. Since moving to L.A., I’ve gone from having done eight films to about 20 as of right now, give or take a few. As for my experience, on the whole it’s been pretty good, but I’ve learned a few big lessons. The biggest of all is to not take it all too seriously. People say a lot of things, both good and bad, but it’s rare that much of it because reality. So, take it all in stride and just realize that there is more to life, at least for me, than porn.

What made you want to get involved in the business?

It’ll probably sound a bit weird, but I actually got into porn for a kind of idealistic goal. As you know, my start was in fisting porn. I’ve been called one of America’s best fisting tops, although how you qualify that, I don’t know. But, I got into fisting porn in particular, because it was something I enjoyed and did in my personal life for many years. But, when I started into fisting, about 10 years ago, there was little heard about it, very little porn with it, and most people’s conceptions about it was not very positive. So, I wanted to show other young attractive guys that they could be into fisting, as well as other kink, and it was all OK. I wanted to be a kind of role model for lack of a better word.

What was your first "exposure" to adult material?

(Laughs) The very first was my best friend’s dad had some Penthouse magazine’s that we had found. They had a few naked guys in them and I was much more into the guys’ pics than the girls’. After that, I was daring. I had a subscription to a gay porn magazine—In Touch—coming to my house when I was 14, and I would go to the West Village and buy other kinds of porn when I was 15. Growing up in NYC had its advantages.

Evidently. At the time, did you think that it might be something you would eventually want to get involved in yourself?

Oh, my God, no. I had some prejudgments—but mostly, it just never occurred to me, I certainly didn’t think I was attractive enough to do it. Now, I know better.

How did you get into porn?

I had met Steven Scarborough in NYC in 2003 when he was debuting some of his new stars. I told him how much of a fan I was of his work, especially the fisting videos, and how I had been into fisting since I was 22. We chatted a while, and he asked if I was ever interested in doing film. I honestly didn’t really expect it to go anywhere, so I said sure. Well, five months later I get a call and he asked me if I was still up for it, and a week later I was in San Francisco fisting Carlos Morales.

What was your very first onset experience like? Were you nervous?

My first experience was a three-way scene where Carlos Morales gets fucked by Ricky Martinez while I watch, and then I proceeded to fist Carlos after he gets fucked. I wasn’t nervous about performing, but it was really weird being naked while everyone around me was clothed. At one point, I was eating Carlos’ ass on the pool table while the crew was setting up for the next scene, and I thought to myself, "How strange it felt to be doing this while other people were just going about their business barely even noticing." (Laughs) I’ve come a long way since then. Nowadays, I don’t even think twice about getting naked, on or off set. (Laughs) It takes very little to get me out of my clothes.

Now you tell me! You’ve been popping up in films by Titan and Eon Films lately. How did you make the switch from fisting porn to mainstream stuff?

My first five films were all fisting videos. I then was approached by John Bruno about doing a regular fuck video. I was more nervous about that than anything else, but I said yes, and well, since then I’ve just been doing a lot. This summer since I’ve moved to L.A. I’ve done about 12, with everyone from All Worlds and Channel 1 to Falcon/Mustang, and—recently—Red Devil Entertainment.

How did you get opened up to fisting? Excuse the pun.

(Laughs) Well, I actually saw it at the Black Party in NYC when I was 21. It didn’t really excite me, but something switched on in my head. And, by the end of the year I was already a really good fister. Ironically, 10 years later, I’m now the guy on stage at the Black Party with my hand up someone’s ass, or in the case of this past year, each hand up a guy’s ass.

Tell me about your fisting site, FistingAcademy.com.

I actually have created a free site that is totally devoted to demystifying fisting and providing some really good, accurate information about fisting. I realized that while there is plenty of porn, there is really very little good information out there for guys who are curious but don’t know much about it. You would be surprised at how many guys are interested in fisting. Many, however, have a lot of questions and fears—with some good reason—and as a result, they don’t get the opportunity to explore it. Or, they explore it without knowing much about it and risk getting hurt.

Are you prepared to receive emails from fans who wouldn’t mind learning some proper fisting techniques from you?

Always. Depending on how many I receive, it might take me a bit to get back to someone; but, if it’s a good question, then I will post it to FistingAcademy.com for others to read, as well.

There seems to be a shift in adult material lately, with the bigger studios commonly inserting more "extreme" practices such as fisting and water sports into their movies. Do you think that kink is becoming more mainstream?

Yes, in a way. In some ways, they are doing it because it reflects what people are really into—and that’s good. It helps to take away some of the shame that people might have about these things and show them it’s OK. On the other hand, when a studio does it just for shock value, or because they think it will sell, well, call me an idealist, but if you’re going to show it, make sure the people in it, if not directing it, are at least into it themselves. I hate watching a scene where a guy is fisting someone and he’s not into it and just doing it. That is not hot to me.

Do your friends and family know about your porn proclivities yet? Any reaction?

All my friends know. I don’t hide it. And, no, my family does not know, or at least they are happy pretending not to know. My mom did ask me once why I buy so much Crisco, so she’s not completely naive, but I think she’s happy living in ignorance—even if it’s like living with a giant pink elephant in the living room.

What are some future plans for your sites?

I plan to maintain AdamFaust.com and potentially add some more features such as video clips and expand my store. For FistingAcademy.com. It will always remain mostly free, but I have gotten requests to add a "personals" or chat section, and that’s something I would definitely be interested in exploring more. If the right partner came along, I would certainly be open to it. I have a few other site ideas that I’ve been tossing around. I might put my MBA to use in that way and see what I can turn out.

What do you hope to achieve during your career in adult entertainment? Where do you see yourself in, say, five years?

Hmmm…I don’t think I had a plan when I started. Right now: build up a fan base, enjoy myself and not take it too seriously, and if the opportunity presents itself, get in on the business side of porn. I would love to merge my education, my work experience and my porn experience, together and create something. What that is, I can’t tell you. But, I doubt I’ll be living in the suburbs and driving a Volvo, that’s for sure.

OK, finish this sentence for me: My fist is to me like…

Like a paintbrush is to a painter. Like a painter, my hands are my tools. And also like a painter, I can use them to eveoke an emotional response from my parnter, in addition to a physical one. At its best, fisting is both a physical and emotional connection between two people, and like an artist, my hands are my tools for expressing myself.
