FSC to Post List of 2257 Fund-Raising Donors and Solicitors

In response to a groundswell of offers from members of the adult entertainment industry to either provide direct donations or to host fundraisers for the Free Speech Coalition’s impending legal challenge to the recently revamped regulations associated with 18 U.S.C. §2257, an ongoing list of donors and solicitors of donations will be compiled by FSC and posted to its Web site in the very near future.

The effort is being undertaken not only to thank and recognize publicly those who have and will be supporting the fight on behalf of the industry, but also to add a layer of official authorization to those who plan to establish ongoing fund-raising efforts. All money donated will go directly to a fund dedicated solely to the current legal challenge, and FSC spokesman said.

It may take some time to compile a preliminary list of current donors and fundraisers and build the page on which they will be listed, but in the meantime the FSC requests that any individual or company that would like to set up a fund-raising campaign in support of the 2257 legal challenge contact FSC Communications Director Tom Hymes with detailed information about what they plan to do.

“Abiding by this request will help us keep track of the legitimate fund-raising operations and help distance us from those who might use the opportunity to benefit their own companies under the pretense of fighting the good fight,” said executive director Michelle Freridge.

Membership dues and contributions to the Free Speech Coalition, a 501(c)6 non-profit organization, are not tax deductible as charitable contributions but may be deductible as ordinary and business expenses.
