FSC Issues State-of-the-Industry Report

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - The Free Speech Coalition has prepared a new State-of-the-Industry Report for the turn of 2007-2008 providing an overview for industry members, press and the public of who and what make up the adult industry, and where it's headed.

"The idea behind this report is two-fold," explained FSC executive director Diane Duke. "One is just to give our members and folks in the industry a general overview of where the industry is at. And the second part, and a very important part, of this report is to give us a wonderful tool to use when we go speaking to the media, as well as to legislators and decision makers about the industry. It helps debunk a lot of the myths that are out there about the industry. We really tried to make it a report that will also help mainstream."

Assisting in compiling the report was former AVN.com editor Scott Ross, and topics covered within include the size of the adult industry, forms of delivery and distribution, employment, talent rates, STD prevention, piracy, 2257 requirements and the myth of pornography addiction.

Hard copies of the report are being sent to upper-tier FSC members, and a digital version will be distributed to all members, as well as posted this week on the organization's website, at www.freespeechcoalition.com.

"We feel that it's comprehensive, thorough and a good read for the general public as well as for people in the industry," Duke said. "Because you have your specialty area, and it's nice to be able to look at the other areas; if you're a webmaster, you understand a little bit more about what's going on with retail, and etcetera. It's kind of a nice overview of the industry as a whole, and a wonderful tool for us to use as we start to really communicate with society in general about what a vital industry we have."
