FREE PORN FOR POLISH LAWMAKERS?

Just ahead of a debate on tightening limits on sexually-explicit publications, every member of Poland's Parliament received sex magazines delievered to their mailboxes Tuesday.

Reuters says an unknown company mailed the lawmakers copies of a monthly it describes as soft porn, and thus stirred tempers on a subject considered very sensitive in the largely Roman Catholic country.

Kazimierz Janiak, a senior deputy with the co-ruling Solidarity bloc, called the mailing a scandal which "violates Parliament's dignity." The mailing was made before the second reading of a bill proposed by Catholic deputies from the bloc, calling for prison terms of up to three years for those found guilty of distributing porn to minors.

The bill would also impose up to six years for those convicted of producing "drastic pornography" - child porn, torture, even bestiality.

Hardcore porn is available at newspaper stands across Poland because of legal loopholes, Reuters says.
