FOILED BID TO SMUGGLE VIAGRA

Airport customs officer stopped a bid to smuggle about 60,000 Viagra and sedative pills into Egypt from Britain over Christmas weekend.

The pills were said to be worth about a million Egyptian pounds ($290,000) and the man officials stopped is said to have confessed they were for drug dealers hoping to distribute them on New Year's Eve, according to Reuters.

Officials told the wire service they became suspicious Saturday when an Egyptian travel agent appeared nervous and ill at ease while accompanying a group of British tourists. After searching the group's belongings, officials found a bag with 15,000 Viagra pills and about 45,00 sedatives.

The representative was arrested and the pills confiscated, Reuters says.
