Marylin Star \nMarylin Star's apparent figuring in an insider trading scandal which helped bring down a powerful investment banker has porn industry insiders and watchers casting a wary eye on the 30-year-old actress.
Federal prosecutors have painted Star (real name Kathryn Gannon), who's still listed at this writing as a fugitive in Canada, as "a manipulator who allegedly wheedled stock tips from...James McDermott and passed them on to Anthony Pomponio," says the New York Daily News, alluding to the banker and another Star boyfriend during the time in question.
Screw publisher Al Goldstein says she bragged to him about having a rich boyfriend, adding she could afford to do one film a year. Goldstein appeared with her in Marylin Does Miami. "I'm not surprised she's in trouble," the publisher told the paper.
Elegant Angel general manager Dion Giarrusso, who directed some films in which she appeared, told the News he wasn't shocked, either, at her turning up in an inside trading scandal. "She's a gold digger," Giarrusso told the paper. "I have nothing against the girl, but she's loyal to the dollar."
However, Adult Press Service president Marc Medoff tells AVN's Gene Ross he thinks Star was most likely duped into her part in the scheme. "Marylin is a porn performer," he says. "She knows nothing about Wall Street-stuff...This could have happened to 99% of the people in porn who basically know very little of money management and finances. Why is every girl we know in porn totally broke? They know nothing of investments...They're using her to get to this guy and it's going to work."
Medoff also says the authorities will never find Star "if she doesn't want them to."
Star reportedly lives in the luxurious South Pointe high-rise apartment complex in Miami Beach.
Several months before the stock scandal broke, Star spoke to AVN's Gene Ross, speaking especially of a 1998 feature, Web of Deception - ironically titled, Ross says, considering her present troubles with the Securities and Exchange Commission. She said that that was her last film until she was asked to do two in the Strap On Sally series.
About Web of Deception, she tells Ross it was "like Black Widow, where the woman's career is to wed filthy wealthy guys, poison them, change her appearance, and move on to the next one."
She was lately concentrating more exclusively on her Web site, www.marylinstar.com, but the site shut down Thursday in the wake of the insider trading scandal. Otherwise, she was planning to go all the way with a Millenium gangbang produced by Metro Global Media.
"They said, can you handle it," she tells Ross, "can you last seven hours, ten hours, or whatever, and take on two thousand men? I mean, I've already done over a 1,050 men in my own life, so we're past all that...If the guy can't last for five hours, fuck him...(t)he last time I had sex was for five hours and was begging for more."
