Evil Angel Adds Dana Vespoli to Roster

VAN NUYS, Calif.—Performer/director Dana Vespoli has signed on to the esteemed contract roster of Evil Angel, following in the footsteps of Belladonna and Bobbi Starr as being among only a handful of female directors to do so. Her first Evil Angel production, Forsaken, hits the streets on Feb. 20.

Sexy San Francisco Bay Area native Vespoli entered the adult industry in 2003 as a performer, with the goal of eventually directing and producing. Since 2006 she’s developed her directing chops for many companies as her often fetishy, BDSM-oriented scenes became known for authenticity and intensity. She brings that edgy sexual genuineness, plus good stories in her feature projects, to a company known for those exact qualities.

“To all us B-class males who think sex is just getting it in and getting it off, Dana offers the alternative of exploring sex as if there is a bit more going on,” Evil Angel founder John Stagliano said. “I have had some luck with female directors in the past, and possibly it has dawned on me that women have a more interesting take on sex.”

Vespoli remarked, “I think my aesthetic fits well with the other [Evil Angel] directors, but, as a woman and one who shoots her own camera, I bring something unique to the table. I suppose by virtue of being a female I bring a female perspective, although I don’t know what that means. My niche has mostly been vignette movies with darker storylines, as well as POV-type scenarios where I interact from behind the camera. I have a strong fetish bent to a lot of my work, and favor strong sex and anal. At the same time, I do like to see tenderness and intimacy in my movies.”

Stagliano added, “As well as her skills in making a feature, she has a charisma in her POV scenes that really works for me. I like what is going on in the room as she directs—real sex is happening.”

Forsaken will be Vespoli’s first gonzo feature. She explained, “John Stagliano had seen one of my horror vignette movies, called Love Hurts, and suggested I try shooting a feature. Forsaken is the story of a girl who wakes up in the woods with blood on her dress, but no wounds. She has no memory of who she is and sets off to solve the mystery. She has flashbacks of her life and meets some creepy characters along the way. The movie stars Ash Hollywood, who was and is beautiful and amazing. Michael Vegas co-stars, and I was blown away by his acting and his sex scenes.”

The director also lauds the Forsaken performances of Manuel Ferrara and Samantha Ryan: “Samantha is a tremendously gifted performer all the way around. Manuel is just OK. Just kidding! He’s always good.”

Vespoli's next planned project for Evil Angel is a lesbian anal POV movie. “I’m going to incorporate bondage, medical themes and various other fetishes I have, and try to keep each scene different from the next," she said. "I have Karlie Montana, and this will be her first anal movie ever. I’m very excited. Any time I get to open up a beautiful girl’s butt and help her get off, I’m very happy. The idea of anal training her is such a turn-on, I may have to set the camera down a few times to give her some extra love.”

Vespoli said she will “definitely” perform in some of her Evil Angel movies. That adventurous, exhibitionistic spirit evolved early; she became interested in the adult industry while dancing at the Mitchell Brothers’ O’Farrell Theater in San Francisco, where she mostly performed lesbian shows in the infamous “Green Door” room. The budding porn Renaissance woman, holder of a B.A. in Comparative Literature from Mills College, has also written articles for French adult magazine Hot Video.
