HOLLYWOOD—As the opening of his debut mainstream vehicle, The Canyons, approaches, James Deen gets yet another profile in a major periodical, this time the U.K. edition of men's interest magazine Esquire.
Dubbing Deen "the Ryan Gosling of porn" (wait, we thought that was Richie Calhoun), the piece by Sanjiv Bhattacharya relays the usual tales of Deen's upbringing, his single-minded pursuit of a porn career, his selection for the role of Christian in The Canyons and some rumination as to whether he may be a sex addict.
It also details two porn shoots employing Deen—the first being AMKingdom's forthcoming epic Saving Humanity, which pairs him with Tara Lynn Foxx (whose age the story pegs in different spots as both 22 and 23 ... the latter is correct); and the second being an unnamed Digital Playground production placing him opposite girlfriend Stoya (the director of which, Robby D., gets name-checked in the piece with the misspelling "Robbie D").
The profile also touches on Deen's multiple crownings at the AVN Awards as Male Performer of the Year—though it incorrectly states that he's won the trophy thrice, in 2009, 2010 and 2013; in 2010, he won ... nothing.
Other porn personalities mentioned include AMK's Kim Nielsen, producer Shylar Cobi, starlets Skin Diamond and Andy San Dimas, and fellow A-list industry cocksmen Manuel Ferrara, Nacho Vidal, Rocco Siffredi, Evan Stone, Lexington Steele and Erik Everhard. In addition, stills are displayed from Deen-starring adult features Seinfeld: A XXX Parody from New Sensations (picturing him mid-coitus with Kristina Rose) and Official The Hangover Parody from Zero Tolerance Entertainment and Adam & Eve Pictures (in which he's flanked by co-stars Spock Buckton and Dane Cross).
Deen has also been profiled by GQ and The Hollywood Reporter, among others.
