Erotic Museum Press Party is Big Success for Erotica Los Angeles

The Erotic Museum was the site of a cocktail party thrown last week by Erotica Los Angeles for members of the press that will be covering the convention, taking place June 18-20.

The event was thrown partially as a token of appreciation for the media’s support of the show, also as a way to prepare those who weren’t already familiar with the annual exposition for the upcoming event. Chad Beecher, vice president of marketing and operations for Erotica Los Angeles, notes some people have a preconceived negative image of anything that has to do with sex, and that’s a stereotype that both the museum and Erotica Los Angeles are trying to eradicate.

“Not only has the Erotic Museum graciously agreed to hold an exhibit from their collection of erotic art at Erotica Los Angeles and agreed to be a sponsor of the show, the museum typifies the atmosphere that we try to create at our show,” Beecher told AVN.com.

The building that houses the museum was built in 1911 and once served as a headquarters for a garter company, a historical touch that led the museum to renovate the building by restoring the original Baroque design on the exterior. Beecher notes that inside the museum is well lit, spacious and, “the sort of couples friendly atmosphere we have at our convention.”

A live jazz band played as the press viewed erotic art and antiquities, including sketches by Pablo Picasso and a vintage adult video that stars a woman who looks uncannily like Marilyn Monroe, and the museum says actually is the famous actress.
