East Coast Strip Club Closes After Shooting

A gentlemen’s club in New Bedford, Mass., which was the site of a shooting will remain closed until after the victims' funerals, the club's owner told the Boston Herald.

The incident tast week left two men dead and wounded others before the gunman turned the weapon on himself, according to the Boston Herald's report.

Foxy Lady Southcoast owner Thomas Tsoumas told the Boston Herald recently that he opened the club for one night, Friday, after a grief counselor advised that getting people back to work would be therapeutic.

But Tsoumas went on to tell the publication that city leaders, including Mayor Scott Lang and police Chief Ronald Teachman, asked him to shut down again until after the funerals. Tsoumas said he would then reopen the club on Wednesday.

The Herald report went on to say that investigators believe the killer, Scott Medeiros, had a grudge against security guard Robert Carreiro, who had fathered the child of Medeiros' ex-girlfriend. Medeiros killed Carreiro, and club manager Tory Marandos during the shooting. At least three other people were wounded, including two police officers.
