ECW Threatens Lawsuit

According to wrestleline.com top executives in Xtreme Pro Wrestling (XPW), have reported that threats of lawsuits have begun from Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) to the America One Network.

Says the wrestling website: "ECW's Steve Carroll, Paul Heyman's right hand man, who ironically has also made his money in the adult film industry like XPW owner/CEO Rob Black, called the America One Network, and threatened to sue them if they aired XPW's television program, claiming that they own the rights to the name "extreme," insinuating that there can be no other extreme wrestling company.

"It is painfully apparent that for some reason ECW feels a little threatened by us," XPW's Rob Black said in an exclusive WrestleLine.com statement, "I don't know if it's due to the fact that we're using some of their old workers who used to work for them, or if it's because we have Shane Douglas, and Shane Douglas can do for us what he did for ECW, and that's to put our company over and carry us on his back like he did for ECW, before he left ECW."

Black said, "I have been in litigation for using the word 'extreme' in the adult business, and it's a tough battle. I am not a stranger to litigation."

XPW just recently struck a deal with America One less than a week ago after a successful run of house shows in Southern California. ECW has been a staple on America One for a while."

Rob Black: "ECW is saying they have the rights to 'Extreme' and that there's confusion in the marketplace and if America One broadcasts, ECW is going to sue them. Their guy called our guy and our guy told them to go fuck themselves and that was it. Already ECW is getting a little frightened. America One was what they were on before they got on TNN. That was their big TV deal. We're in the exact same boat they were in before they got TNN. It's like we're a notch away."

But the more important story addressed to Black was how Chris Candido, who's the current XPW heavyweight champ, could be on WCW's Monday Nitro and their pay-per-view the day before.

Black: "It's an elaborate fuckin' angle. Come to the show Saturday and you will see it unfold."

G. Ross: "I'm suspecting there's going to be a title exchange Saturday."

Black: "Man!! Put that on your website."
