This Saturday, December 11, 1999, starting at about 8 PM (PT), The Dr. Susan Block Show will feature Dr. Pepper Schwartz, award-winning sexologist, Professor of Sociology at the University of Washington and co-author of The Great Sex Weekend. Starting at about 10 PM (PT), Dr. Block's guest will be Speakeasy Gallery artist Skee Goodhart whose series of 3D paintings of radiant, post-modern planetary goddess portraits are featured in the Speakeasy Gallery's current exhibit "Erotic Art of the Apocalypse."
Between interviews, Dr. Block will take questions from her television and Internet callers, as well as her in-studio audience. After the formal part of the show, she'll invite studio-audience volunteers to experience the "Bondage Cross," an interactive sculpture in the "Erotic Art of the Apocalypse" exhibit and the most controversial cross to come along in the past two thousand years, created by Speakeasy Gallery artist Mario Saucedo.
The 12.11.99 program will be broadcast live from BlockStudios at drsusanblock.com, and shown subsequently among archived programs in Dr. Block's Erotic Theater of the Mind. It will be edited for broadcast within the next few months as a half-hour episode of Dr. Block's weekly TV show, airing on cable stations throughout the Greater LA area, as well as in various locations around the world.
BlockStudios are located at the Dr. Susan Block Institute for the Erotic Arts & Sciences, a center of sex education, expression and exploration. The Institute also houses Dr. Suzy's Speakeasy with a vintage 20-foot bar and stage from the building's Prohibition Era days as a genuine 1920's speak-easy, and the Speakeasy Gallery, featuring LA's only permanent collection of erotic art. The Institute is currently located at 1235 S. Hope Street in downtown LA, just down the street from the Neon Art Museum and around the corner from the giant neon purple spaceship that is the new Staples Arena. Speakeasy Gallery hours are Thursday - Saturday, 4 - 9 PM.
