Discount Join Rate: NCSF

The National Coalition for Sexual Freedom is offering a discounted individual membership fee of $10 through March 30 for members of any of their "Coalition Partner" groups.

NCSF says its mission includes helping parents whose child custody rights are challenged because of their involvement in such activities as S/M, leather and fetish sexuality, swinging, or "polyamory" activities. The group claims 34 member groups totaling about 10,000 members.

Non-members of partner groups can join NCSF for $25.

The group featured in the Jan. 19 issue of Time, which wrote that no one with preferences for such fetishes or "in the fledgling BDSM movement argues in favor of actual slavery or rape (though eroticized stimulations of such crimes are common). Among the BDSM clubs and support groups, all the reputable ones preach the BDSM mantra: safe, sane, and consensual."

"Like every other subculture, we have a fringe, an element that doesn't follow the rules," NCSF co-founder Susan Wright told Time. "But every mainstream BDSM group has a mission statement that includes those words over and over: safe, sane, consensual."

NCSF was formed by Wright and a small group in a bid to fight for sexual freedom and privacy rights for SM activists, and is led by a board of directors chosen from among its "Coalition Partners" groups - all of which, NCSF says, are nonprofit educational and social groups. The first five such partner groups were the National Leather Association-International, Gay Male S/M Activists, The Eulenspiegel Society, Black Rose, and the Society of Janus.

Among other activities, NCSF has upheld the right to hold social and educational adult events, providing media assistance and event production, as well as presenting legal education outreach projects
