MIAMI — Previously unreleased documents obtained from the FBI by the Associated Press uncover a sweeping campaign carried out by agents all over the country and at every level of the organization to halt the dissemination of watershed 1972 adult film Deep Throat.
The documents were released to the AP this month under the Freedom of Information Act, and are a small chunk of the FBI's approximately 4,800-page file on Deep Throat director Gerard Damiano, who died last October. Over 1,000 pages remain unreleased due to exemptions and because they duplicate information elsewhere.
