Digital Playground Registers 'Virtual Sex' as Trademark

Digital Playground on Friday announced it has officially registered "Virtual Sex" as a trademark.

The trademark registration (#3014320) became official on November 15, 2005. The Virtual Sex trademark is protected against its unfair and illegal use to sell products not emanating from Digital Playground.

“When we released the first Virtual Sex title in 1994 I knew that it would continue to evolve as new technology became available," said Joone, founder of Digital Playground. "The Virtual Sex brand is seamless and timeless because we are committed to continuously encompass new formats. The popularity and success of the Virtual Sex line reflects over a decade of hard work."

Digital Playground’s Virtual Sex line has become one of adult's most well known and bestselling series.

“We have been using the Virtual Sex mark in association with our products since at least 1994," said Digital Playground president Samantha Lewis. "Consumers have come to associate the Virtual Sex mark with Digital Playground and a product line having high production values, leading technology and A-list adult stars. Our success is reflected in the fact that competitors have repeatedly attempted to capitalize on our branding, marketing and the good will associated with our mark. So far, we have successfully policed our mark, and have had infringing products removed from the marketplace.”

Digital Playground’s Virtual Sex series has been featured in the New York Times as well as The History Channel, MSNBC, ABC, Fox News and CNN.

The series has garnered numerous accolades since its inception, including AVN awards for Best Interactive DVD for Virtual Sex with Janine (2002), Virtual Sex with Devon (2001) and Virtual Sex with Tera Patrick (2000).
