Digital Playground Announces Contest Winners

Digital Playground has announced the official winners of its Pirates display contest. The adult production company asked video stores to create a display for it 2005 release, Pirates.

Fairvilla Megastore in Orlando, Florida is the Grand Prize winner of $10,000. Three Star Books and News of Ventura, California took second place, receiving $5,000 and Fairvilla Megastore in Key West, Florida came in third for the $2,500 prize.

Tom Berger, CEO of Fairvilla, said, “Pirates has been our top selling movie this year and, contrary to established retail patterns, has actually increased in sales since initial release. After we built the pirate ship in our Orlando store, monthly Pirates movie sales doubled.

“In addition to increased revenue, the contest provided excitement and focus in our stores. Above all, it was a fun team-building experience, offering an opportunity for unity, goals and measurement.”

Rebecca Boring of Three Star Books said, “We couldn't help but jump at the chance to paper mache' a pirate ship. It took weeks, and we sold a lot of Pirates DVDs during that time, as we explained to people why we were covered in white gook in front of a pile of newspaper.”

Digital Playground President, Samantha Lewis, said that she is pleased with the results. “I would like to personally thank each and every store that participated in this contest, for their support, creativity and hard work.”

Shot on location in California, and off the coast of Florida by Digital Playground owner Joone, Pirates stars Jesse Jane, Carmen Luvana, Janine, Teagan Presley, Devon, Austyn Moore and Jenaveve Jolie. It received a record-breaking 11 trophies at the 2005 AVN Awards in Las Vegas, and a version of the title recently received an R Rating from the MPAA.
