Digital Media Workflows, More at NAB Show: Telestream

Telestream turned out to have more to unwrap than their Media Application Platform (MAP) Review technology at the National Association of Broadcasters convention here - they announced a round of new partnership alliances and product integration in fourteen demonstrations at the convention.

Sounding a theme they called enabling digital media workflows, Telestream said the new partner alliances, and new companies integrating their technology into convention demonstrations, "substantiates the important role [we] play in enabling automated digital media workflows."

Marketing and business development vice president David Heppe said in a statement that Telestream understands "the interoperability challenge" many high-tech companies now face. "Our automated transcoding and delivery products are solving that challenge for a growing number of video server, NLE, storage, and media asset management companies," he said.

The new partnerships include a series of new OEM partnerships with FastChannel Network and Rorke Data, Telestream said. FastChannel is offering the Telestream ClipMail Pro as standard transmission for advertising spots into the TrafficChannel network, marked for every broadcasting station in the country. It's described as an end-to-end, Internet-based trafficking solution. With Rorke, Telestream has forged a global resale alliance for integrating Telestream's FlipFactory file transfer technology with Rorke's StreamLinx program, "to enamble shared data storage between various broadcast server and multiple NLEs," Telestream said.

Telestream, in fact, gave multiple FlipFactory demonstrations at the NAB convention, showing it at booths hosted by Accom, Panasonic, and Pinnacle.

They also announced a partnership deal with Sun Microsystems to put Telestream transcode and delivery automation into Sun's new Digital Asset Management Reference Architecture. And, Microsoft wasn't cut out of the Telestream action, either - Telestream unwrapped two products at Microsoft's Partner Pavilion at the NAB show: They unwrapped the MAPreview program, which AVN Online reported prior to the NAB show, and which is built on three Microsoft technologies and stored in Windows Media 9 format; and, FlipFactory Pro, a universal format translator which also supports the Windows Media 9 format.

As if that weren't enough to keep the company busy at the NAB show, Telestream also demonstrated several other partnership products, including an integration program with AdWare "to provide a low-cost asset management solution"; a turnkey digital media management solution with Ancept and IBM; broadcast solutions including FastChannel, Sony, Thomson Grass Valley, and Viewcast/Osprey; and production workflow programs with Avid and Apple product integration.
