Adult talent representatives Adult Staffing Services Inc. (ASS Inc.) announced they have retained the services of former adult actor Dick Smothers, Jr. in a consulting capacity for their talent recruitment and marketing program.
"We began working with Dick while filming the upcoming adult feature The Toy Factory and immediately hit it off," director of operations Tim Murphy told AVNOnline.com. " Since he left the business as talent, it afforded us an opportunity to utilize his expertise. We feel his addition to ASS Inc. further strengthens our position in the adult staffing industry."
"ASS Inc. has taken an approach that combines corporate HR techniques with add-ons that provide a great deal of value to both talent and producers," read ASS Inc.'s press release. "This is a company that goes to great lengths not only to recruit and book female talent, but to provide talent with the tools and means to develop and exercise control over their own careers, such as Web development, continually-updated photo and video content, and careful and patient career guidance.
"For the producers, we not only have a rapidly growing database of new talent, but we’re able to provide taped interviews, complete and comprehensive work and testing histories, and even pretty girls and glamour stills for smaller producers. The idea is to develop into a true adult single-source solution provider."
Smothers worked as talent in the adult industry for over a year, but decided to retire from performing after the recent HIV crisis.
"His stance on talent safety and health as well as his good standing within the business brings another positive member to our team at ASS Inc.," read the statement. "We look forward to working with Dick and are confident that he brings a lot to the table for us, our talent and our clients."
ASS Inc. was founded in 2003 by producer Tony S. Soybo with the intent to provide the industry with a talent agency that "exceeded the current standards he encountered during his productions." In its first six months, ASS Inc. has assembled a team of management, marketing, and technology specialists, and are currently in the final phases of development of their online casting services.
