Dick Delaware To Fight Jeff Ford Saturday At Venom

Adult performer Dick Delaware will fight kick-boxer Jeff Ford this Saturday night in the main event of an underground promotion called Venom.

The no-holds-barred fight will be held at an undisclosed location in either Los Angeles or Orange County, and is an invitation-only event. Even Delaware, whose real name is Aaron Brink, will not know until Saturday where the fight will take place. To be added to his guest list, call (818) 415-8867. Directions to the location will be available on Saturday.

"It's an underground show that will be held under [Pride Fighting Championship] rules," Delaware, who is nicknamed The Pornographic Puncher, told AVN.com. "But it still counts for points toward bigger shows."

Delaware (21 wins, 9 losses, 1 draw) will be fighting for the first time since March 20, when he knocked out 6-foot-5-inch, 330-pound Cory Timmerman to win the Rage in the Cage super-heavyweight title at the Celebrity Theatre in Tempe, Ariz.

A victory Saturday night against Ford, a two-time U.S. Kickboxing Association world champion, could propel Delaware back into the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

"I want to get back to the ‘Super Bowl’ one more time," said Delaware, who fought in UFC 28: High Stakes at Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. "They are looking for exciting strikers right now, and that's me."

Delaware lost to Andrei Arlovski of Belarus in both fighters’ UFC debut on November 17, 2000. The only time Delaware was closer than he is now to returning to the UFC was in 2001, when negotiations for a fight with Chuck Liddell stalled. Arlovski, meanwhile, went on to fight in the UFC several more times in the past four years and is next in line for a shot at the heavyweight title held by Frank Mir.

Delaware is known in the mixed martial arts world as a brawler who would rather knock his opponent out than win by submission. The 6-foot-3-inch, 225-pound native of Huntington Beach, Calif., has added Muay Thai kick-boxing training to his routine and improved his jiu-jitsu, or ground-fighting, skills during the past year.

Ford, who is 6-feet-2-inches and 240-pounds, is a veteran of K-1, the premier kickboxing promotion in the world. He lost via a first-round knockout to Remy Bonjaski at K-1: Battle at the Bellagio in August of 2003; Bonjaski went on to win the tournament.

"I'm going to use this to get back to the top shows like the UFC," Delaware said Sunday. He said he talked recently to his childhood friend, UFC superstar Tito Ortiz, who told him, "To get back to the UFC, just win one more."

"[Ford] is predominantly a kick-boxer, a stand-up fighter," Delaware continued. "I'm a stand-up fighter. It should be a good fight."

Meanwhile, Delaware, who started his adult film career in December 2002, continues to perform sex scenes for companies like Red Light District, Sin City, Cherry Boxxx and Anarchy Films. He has performed in close to 300 sex scenes, including print work.

Delaware said he will be escorted to the ring by adult performer Cytherea, whose Website address, clubcytherea.com, will be sewn onto his fight shorts. In addition, he added, Vince Vouyer, who trains in jiu-jitsu and is Red Light District’s director and head of production, will also be making the trip.
