Sister production companies Anabolic and Diabolic have terminated their business relationship with Ali Azeni, who was their exclusive European distributor, operating under the name Anabolic Europe. The production companies have now signed a new, exclusive European distribution deal with Playhouse.
“After nearly six years of doing business together I felt it was time to go another direction,” Gregg Alan, owner of Diabolic and VP of Anabolic, told AVN.com. “He built a very strong name for us in Europe and it saddens me that it has come to the point in which it was no longer a good deal for either of us. I am hoping it will be a smooth separation of our business relationship and things end nicely.
“I just arrived back this week after meeting with Ali in Paris and negotiating a new deal with Playhouse, who operates out of the Netherlands. I am excited to be with Playhouse, because they are a proven powerhouse in European distribution."
Alan said he was able to spend several days with Playhouse President, Bert Ruzette. “I feel we have a very similar philosophy on running a business and how distribution should be done.
“I look forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship with Playhouse, Bert, Walter, and the rest of the Playhouse staff.” Greg said that plans call for them to start releasing titles through Playhouse in September.
As for the cutting of their previous European ties, Greg told AVN.com, “It has come to our attention that a major European distributor has initiated a widespread promotional campaign involving most of our titles under circumstances that lead us to believe that counterfeit product may be involved.”
“Anabolic and Diabolic do not tolerate piracy, and will invoke civil and criminal remedies to the fullest extent available against anyone who sells or re-sells bootlegged product.”
Alan went on to say that this is the subject of an immediate and thorough investigation.
“Playhouse is now the only European distributor authorized to sell Anabolic and Diabolic product.”
