Dell Offering Customers AT&T Wireless Net Hookups

Dell Computer customers don't need wireless hot spots to connect to the Internet anymore. A new deal between Dell and AT&T lets Dell customers connect by way of AT&T's cellular networks.

"Our customers' time is valuable," said Dell wireless product director Anthony Bonadero in a statement, "and we're committed to providing them a variety of options for wireless connectivity, both local and wide-area networking."

Dell customers can now use existing AT&T cellular networks anywhere AT&T provides the coverage, according to CNET.com. All they have to do is buy the tri-band SierraAirCard 750 wireless cellular modem, now on sale for $224.99, Dell said, with access fees beginning at $29.99 a month based on megabytes used per month.

Dell compares the data transmission speed through the cellular network as being roughly the same as an analog dialup modem, CNET said.
