Defiance Scores Lauren Phoenix With Exclusive Deal

Defiance Films is quickly shaping up as a powerhouse studio, having inked an exclusive deal last week with major name Taylor Rain, and today announcing the addition of AVN Performer of the Year Lauren Phoenix to its contract roster.

Under the new contract, Phoenix will perform and direct exclusively for Defiance and sister company Torrid Entertainment for one year, with an option to renew for a second year.

“We’ve talked to her about a lot of things, and we’ve got some other projects that we had lined up with her,” Defiance head of production Keith O’Connor told AVN.com, “and we decided, we've got her in so many future projects, why don’t we see if we can just put something together long-term. It’s what she wanted, it’s what we wanted, and it’s a good fit.”

O’Connor said Phoenix will be directing for both Torrid (whose titles are all directed by women) and Defiance, as “some of Lauren’s stuff will be kind of extreme, and that’ll be more on the Defiance side.”

Her first title as performer under the deal, meanwhile, will be an all-girl, all-anal production directed by Aurora Snow, scheduled to begin shooting next week.

As for her side of the story, Phoenix says she was drawn to Defiance because of their belief in her on both sides of the camera.

“I decided to settle down with this company because they really showed an interest in me both as a performer and a director, which is what I’ve been looking for all along,” Phoenix said. “And I do hope to work with Taylor [Rain] on a scene together, because I think that would really kick ass. She’s a really sweet girl, and I’m happy to have her as my sister, so to speak.”
